The builder has to be someone who you feel comfortable working though any level of issue. It should be someone you feel comfortable having in your home, around your kids, and in your life, as you will be spending a lot of time together. The contractor should be someone who’s expectations of quality meet or exceed your own. The contractor should be someone who can do the job within your time constraints and within your budget constraints. Call references, ask as many questions you can think of, discuss costs and cost structures, ask about contract forms, go out and look at finished and current projects, take your time.
